Ltd Faces Liquidation Over RentPREMIER HOTELS Ltd, one
of the subsidiaries of hotel management firm Prem Group, is facing liquidation
after failing to agree a deal on a six-figure rent arrears bill with one of its
landlords. The company, which was a joint venture with developer Paddy Kelly and
his family until they exited last year, has called a creditors’ meeting for early
next month to appoint a liquidator. Premier Hotels previously managed six of the
Prem Group’s properties but it transferred the other businesses to new Prem Group
companies between June 2009 and May 2010. Up until yesterday, it had only been
responsible for Days Hotel, Dublin airport. The Dublin airport hotel’s landlord,
Pierse Santry Cross, part of the Pierse construction group, appointed a new operator
to the hotel yesterday, but would not reveal the company’s identity. The hotel
will not close and the change will not affect its 35 staff. Read

self- service banks and supermarket tills, online check-in with airlines and automated

of any human interaction and pubs where you can pull your own pint. Now,
it seems, we’re on the road to unmanned service stations. About a year ago, Cork-based
GreatGas launched the State’s first unmanned forecourt in Santry, and it
has been so successful that managing director Ray O’Sullivan is keen to open more.

New McDonalds
Planned for Gulliver's Retail Park Planning
Permission has being logged with Fingal County Council for a new McDonalds Restaurant
at Gulliver Retail Park Santry. The new store according to planning documents
logged with the Council will be located behind the local neighbourhood shops in
Northwood and across from the current Retail Park. The restaurant will be have
a 100 metre squared dining area as well as a drive through.
There
could be some questions whether the planning application does fall outside zoning
and development controls for the area. But maybe the planning department in current
economic climate may look more favourable at a development that will guarantee
a number of new local jobs after it is completed? To

Bestseller Reopen
Stores in Omni Bestseller
Retail Ireland Ltd who operate under the brands Vero Moda, Jack and Jones, Only
and Name It in Ireland, have recently reopened all of their four stores in the
Omni Centre Santry. The four stores had only closed their doors a few months ago
after the group had gone into examinership.
However
during their examiership, the examiner Declan MacDonald prepared survival proposals
which included applications to the High Court to repudiate leases on premises
from which the stores operate, also Bestseller's Parent Company has agreed to
invest €2.2 Million into its Irish arm and Bestseller renegotiated leases with
a number of its landlords. The survival scheme
got the support of the company's creditors and the High Court has approved the
scheme, which in recent weeks has seen the reopening of a number of the group's
stores including those in the Omni Santry. This
is great news from the Omni which has suffered in recent times from closures due
to economic downturn but this and other re-openings and new store openings in
the Omni in recent months may mean the centre is beginning to turn the corner
however the current economic climate is still very challenging for all retailers.
Back to Top Boost for
Metro North There
was a boost for Metro North with the announcement that the European Investment
Bank was to approve a loan of €500 million to develop the Metro North. This has
being seen as a vote in confidence from Europe in the scheme with the bank's vice
president, Plutarchos Sakellaris, describing the project as "'significant contribution
to sustainable urban transport in the greater Dublin area and will be the backbone
for a future integrated public transport network'"
In
other news on the Metro North project, Construction of the enabling works for
Metro North have moved a step closer with the release of the first major tender
package for the diversion of utilities in the city centre at St. Stephen's Green.
The Railway Order for the project is expected to be granted
at the end of July this year by An Board Pleanála and construction to start in
earnest in early 2011 with construction due to be completed by end of 2016. Back

Late Equaliser Keeps
Sportings Title hopes Alive Sporting's
Veteran striker Glen Crowe earned Sporting Fingal a point against Shamrock Rovers
with a dramatic late equaliser at Tallaght Stadium on Friday Evening.
Substitute
Crowe showed he still had the touch in front of goal when he nodded in Alan Kirby's
cross on 88 minutes. Rovers fans must have thought
they had won the game on 86 minutes, when James Chambers' glancing header from
Dessie Baker's corner found the top corner of Sportings Goal. However,
they hadn't reckoned on Crowe spoiling the party. The point was the least Fingal
deserved as they had edged a lively and competitive encounter in Tallaght. The
point leaves both teams still in contention at the top, as the Airtricity League
Premier Division title race promises to be the closest in recent memory. Fingal's
next home game at Morton Stadium is on Saturday the 29th of May at 4pm against
Galway United. Source: RTE Sport Back

Briefly Go Top of Premier Division for 1st Time in History Sporting
Fingal scored a penalty on the hour mark to give them a 2 - 1 victory over unbeaten
Dundalk Last Friday night at Morton Stadium and lifting them above the Lilywhites
into top spot in the league . Fingal surged to the summit for the first time in
their short history with a hard-working display over a Dundalk. However
wins for Dundalk on Monday and St Pats on Tuesday night moved them back to 3rd
place in the league. Though still early days in the season their brief time at
the top showed Sporting Fingal's super progress since being formed in 2007 and
showed that the newly prompted team was merely not satisfied with survival in
the top league in their 1st season but were going to compete for top position
in the league as well. Their next
game is this Thursday against UCD away, their next home game is next Monday night

Centre as 3 Mobile open New Store After
recent bad news at the Omni Santry, with a number of high profile store closers
at the centre, the Omni must be glad to have some good news, with 3 Mobile opening
their new store in the centre.
The centre has being badly
hit in recent times as a number of its leading stores closed down due to the current
economic down turn. Firstly The Winding stairs closed their book store at the
Centre then Adam's Kid's Clothes closed down as the company that ran it went into
administration. Then in what were two massive blows for the
centre Hughes and Hughes Book Stores went into receivership meaning the closing
of it centre piece book store located in the centre's new mall and Best Seller
who ran four Clothing Stores in the centre, Jack and Jones, Only, Vero Moda and
Name it, closed all four of its stores after an Examiner was appointed to the
troubled group in early March. The new 3 Mobile store is
located in the middle of the centre's original mall. Let's hope its opening signal's
the ending of centres recent store closures however in the current economic climate
regrettable this is probably doubtful. Back

reported previously the new development will have two restaurants at ground level,
own door offices at 2nd and 3rd level and penthouse apartments on the 4th floor.
The building will be based around a circulation core and will also include outdoor

Retail Park Struggles in Current Economic Climate. Gulliver's
Retail Park which is based in Northwood Santry appears to be struggling in the
new economic reality. Built in the last years of the Celtic Tiger the park is
now struggling as tenants move out or close shop, leaving over half the units
now vacant.
The latest body blow for the Retail Park was
the Closure of the Parks 2nd largest Tenant Currys. Who according to a notice
posted on the doors of the now closed store are moving their store to nearby rival
Retail Park, Airside Swords. This closure follows the closure
of the Premier Golf Store last year, This company which at its height was the
2nd largest golf store chain in Ireland went into liquidation in March of 2009
and the store closed shortly afterwards. With three other
units still to be let at the park, this leaves five of the total nine units vacant
at present and in a recent industry survey, Gulliver's were in the bottom of a
table, which was based on profitability, with most tenants at the park saying
they were in a serious loss making position at present. The
Cosgrave Property Group who own the park must now considering how to save the
park from its current problems they might be somewhat relieved that at least the
adjacent neighbourhood centre appears to be trading well with two new tenants
moving in last year. Back to Top
